What Is Laser Resurfacing?
Laser Resurfacing treatments utilize microscopic columns of light or heat to penetrate the skin and expedite the body’s remodeling of proteins like collagen and elastin.
What conditions does Laser Resurfacing treat?
Fractional laser resurfacing is recommended for anyone who would like to reduce pigment, smooth texture and wrinkles, or simply improve the health of your skin. The treatment works by creating micro-channels in the skin that stimulate the development of new skin cells. Common treatment areas are the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. There are several laser options for Skin Resurfacing depending on treatment plan goals. Most patients achieve their desired results after a series of treatments that are performed 4-6 weeks apart. To maintain results we will create a custom treatment plan. *some are more aggressive, some are for pigment, talk in detail about after care.
What Laser Resurfacing devices are available?
Fraxel Re:Store
The Fraxel Re:Store 1550 is a fractional laser for anti-aging benefits. Fraxel Re:Store stimulates collagen and treats wrinkles, acne and other scars, stretch marks, and skin blotchiness on the face and body. It is also a great treatment for the upper and lower eyelids. Fraxel Re:Store 1550 is a deep laser that penetrates the skin at a depth of up to 1.6mm. When scheduling a Fraxel 1550 treatment, consideration should be given regarding the healing process post procedure, as redness, swelling and peeling are expected as the skin heals.
Fraxel Thulium
The Fraxel Thulium 1927 wavelength targets the upper layers of the skin, which is where pigmentation lies. The pigmentation is shed from the skin over three to five days, revealing smoother, brighter, younger-looking skin. Fraxel Thulium 1927 is superficial, and penetrates the skin at a depth of up to 0.3mm. When scheduling a Fraxel Thulium 1927 treatment, consideration should be given regarding the healing process post procedure, as the temporary darkening and sloughing of pigment is expected as the skin heals.
Fraxel Dual
Fraxel Dual combines the benefits of Fraxel Re:Store with the benefits of the Fraxel Thulium. This is a fabulous treatment if you are concerned with both texture and pigmentation. We utilize these lasers together or separately, depending on the patients concerns, whether pigment or fine lines. When scheduling a Fraxel 1550 treatment, consideration should be given regarding the healing process post procedure, as redness, swelling and peeling are expected as the skin heals. Dr. Hooper and Dr. Jackson will help you determine if a series of Re:Store; Thulium; or combination Fraxel Dual treatment is the best option for you.
