What is Radiesse®?

Radiesse® is a biostimulatory filler gel composed of tiny microspheres, made of calcium hydroxyapatite, the natural constituent of bone. Injections of the gel provide a scaffolding into which your body’s own collagen can grow, resulting in added volume to various regions of the face and dorsal hands. This gel dissipates as your body’s own collagen laces around the spheres, creating long-lasting smoothing and contouring.

Am I a candidate for Radiesse®?

Allergy testing is not required for Radiesse® filler injections, so the primary consideration for treatment is the characteristics of your anti-aging needs. Common areas of treatment with Radiesse® are various facial wrinkles and folds, and even the top of the hands. Dr. Hooper and Dr. Jackson will perform a detailed analysis of your anatomy and determine if Radiesse® is the best treatment for you.

How is a Radiesse® treatment performed?

We apply a topical numbing agent 20-30 minutes before injections to ensure the most comfortable experience for our patients. Our Radiesse® also contains a local anesthetic, increasing comfort during injection. Radiesse® is loaded into a sterile syringe and expertly injected by Dr. Hooper or Dr. Jackson.

What is recovery like after Radiesse® injections?

No downtime is expected after a Radiesse® procedure, but you may or may not experience mild redness, localized swelling, tenderness or bruising after injections. We recommend stopping any blood thinners not prescribed by a physician for 1-2 weeks before filler injections to prevent the risk of bruising. Examples of these are Aspirin, NSAIDS like Advil (Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Naproxen Sodium), Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo, Green Tea, Garlic, Ginseng, St John’s Wort, and alcoholic beverages.

How long do results from Radiesse® last?

On average, the results of Radiesse® injections lasts up to 12 months, although this does vary by patient. Your body may take more or less time to break down the collagen that is produced by the treatment.

Radiesse® for Body Contouring

Radiesse® can also be used to define and contour various curves of the body by adding fullness and smoothing tissue, simultaneously improving the quality of the overlying skin.
