Hyaluronic Acid Fillersin New Orleans, LA | Audubon Dermatology

Hyaluronic acid is a basic element in connective skin tissue, and like collagen, diminishes as we age. Hyaluronic acid fillers, better known as “HA fillers” are characterized by softness and work to replace lost volume. HA fillers can smooth out fine lines on the surface of the skin, fill in deep lines, augment soft tissues (such as the lips), or augment facial bone structure (such as the jawline) to achieve a natural, well-rested, more youthful appearance. Also, HA fillers are a great “beginner filler” because they are completely dissolvable by injecting hyaluronidase enzyme. There are a wide variety of HA fillers on the market. Although all HA fillers are composed of the same molecule, they may vary in particle size, degree of crosslinking between molecules, concentration and consistency of the gel. Dr. Hooper and Dr. Jackson are expert injectors, frequently attending national and international meetings, and training colleagues around the country. Dr. Hooper and Dr. Jackson will perform a thorough assessment of your facial anatomy and decide which filler or combination of fillers is best for you.

Which Hyaluronic acid fillers are available at Audubon Dermatology?

Am I a candidate for hyaluronic acid filler injections?

The primary consideration for treatment is the characteristics of your anti-aging needs. Dr. Hooper or Dr. Jackson will perform a detailed analysis of your anatomy and determine if hyaluronic acid filler is the best treatment for you.

How are hyaluronic acid filler injections performed?

We apply a topical numbing agent 20-30 minutes before injections to ensure the most comfortable experience for our patients. Most HA fillers also contain a premixed local anesthetic, increasing comfort during injection. Hyaluronic acid fillers are pre-loaded in a sterile syringe and expertly injected by Dr. Hooper or Dr. Jackson.

What is recovery like after hyaluronic acid filler?

You may or may not experience mild redness, tenderness or bruising after filler treatment. We recommend stopping any blood thinners not prescribed by a physician for 1-2 weeks before filler injections to prevent the risk of bruising. Examples of these are Aspirin, NSAIDS like Advil (Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Naproxen Sodium), Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo, Green Tea, Garlic, Ginseng, St John’s Wort, and alcoholic beverages.

How long does hyaluronic acid filler last?

HA fillers can last anywhere from several months to several years depending on the consistency of the product, location of injection, and the individual’s ability to metabolize the product.
