Scars

A scar is formed when skin heals after an injury. Many factors determine whether an injury will result in a scar, including one’s age, gender and ethnicity, coupled with the severity and location of the trauma. There are many different types of scars, including acne scars, keloids (raised, hyper-pigmented and beyond the bounds of the original injury) and hypertrophic (like keloid scars, but not extending beyond the scope of the original injury).

Treatment Options for Scars

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, also known as Striae, often occur on a woman’s belly during pregnancy, but may also occur anywhere on the body as the result of a growth spurt or change in weight. Initially, these lines are red or purple, and eventually they fade to white or silver.
